I am volunteering, too. I have a thought that would cross-link wine to politics, and perhaps bring along some new viewers. at "2 Days per Bottle" (http://2daysperbottle.blogspot.com).

Would it be possible for the powers-that-be to make the wine selection farther ahead. So have a rolling two months determined: #46 and #47 posted at the same time mid month, then #47 and #48 the following month. This would help me who wants to give my posse enough time to coordinate our purchasing and meeting location as a group.

Hey Tim,

I'd like to throw Classic Wines in the running for your hosting gig! We have a built in topic for your convenience - Select a wine that you think should be called a classic wine! The actual definition of "classic" is a bit amorphous, which is why finding out people's different opinions would be so intriguing!

Cheers,

Hi Tim,

As a value-wine blogger I'm growing more and more excited about Chilean reds and I'd love to host a WBW about them on CheapWineRatings.com. I can narrow it down to a specific varietal if you'd prefer.

Hi, Richard from Custom Wine Source here. I am fairly new to the wine blogging game but would love to host a WBW some time. With stunning originality, I have named my theme "A Blast From the Past". Basically the idea would be to source the current vintage of a wine that holds a special place in your life; The first wine you ever drank, the wine you ordered on your first date with the love of your life, or the wine that really got you hooked on the stuff. Find it, drink it, share the memories.

Hello, this is Marta over at Recently Consumed (http://www.recentlyconsumed.com). I'm not a strict wine bloggist, but I'd love to host an event at some point in time. I was thinking of doing the opposite of the "go local" wine campaign (no eco-friendly I know). My idea was trying to drink a wine from the furthest spot on the globe from you that you can... kinda Ze Frank Earth Sandwich if you will. It could make for a really cool Google Map mashup that I would contribute. Just seems like a good way to introduce people to a region they may not know and get an idea of where all these WBW-ers exist around the globe.

It's Ben from Chateau Petrogasm.

We were thinking that it would be great to host a WBW that follows the theme of Chateau Petrogasm and encourages bloggers to post their next wine review using a visual medium.

Looking ahead at our schedule, my theme of "Old World Riesling" would seem to make the best match as I'm specifying only Riesling from it's traditional home in Germany, Austria and Alsace be reviewed. That theme is coming up in May.

In the meantime, WBW has crossed the Atlantic via the WEB and there are now two European versions of this communicative wine blogging initiative: one in French, which is called Vendredis du Vin (http://vendredis.wordpress.com/) which is at its 11th edition, and a slightly younger German brother called Weinrallye, (http://winzerblog.de/weinrallye/), which has just announced its 9th topic. I had the pleasure to host the last editions of each simultaneously (by coping your "old" labels theme), so it was a great fun to compare the different entries - and it gave me the idea, that it would be even greater fun to combine the three of them one day around the same topic seen from the two sides of what we call in German "the lake" (der Teich).
There would be in fact the language barrier to overcome, but as in the meantime most Germans read (and probably write) English, this would be perhaps not such an important obstacle - for the French, its perhaps less evident, but if I look through the participants of the last edition, there have been already at least half a dozen who were bi-lingual...

What do you think about it?

I like this idea - especially since I noticed by writing the round up for the last Weinrallye (tiny brother of WBW among German speaking wine and food-bloggers) that several participants deliberately wrote about the music they were hearing while tasting the wine for their weinrallye post:-))

There's a Canadian wine magzine called 'Vines' (www.vinesmag.com) which reviews new albums and suggests a wine to pair them with. The column is lots of fun to read and I think this is a great idea for a future WBW.

So my entry for this month's WBW gave me an idea for a theme to host. Take a wine and pair it with some music. Sip at a glass and play a record (or CD or mp3 or whatever). Talk about how they compliment each other. Was it a jazzy wine that you listened to some classic rock with? Did the mellow notes of the wine blend well with the mellow notes of John Lee Hooker? A fruity wine with some Liberace, perhaps? (OK, I'm sorry for that pun). I think you get the idea. I think it could be fun!

Hmm, Egri Bikavér is a tad difficult to find in a lot of places. May I suggest widening the scope of your proposed theme to maybe "Eastern European wines from grapes other than Cab, Merlot, Chardonnay?" That would be different and the folks who do have access to a good wine shop with some Bull's Blood would probably produce a fair number of responses but it does give more opportunity for other users to find different kinds of wines from Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary etc-depending on what their wine shop has access to.

Hi - I've got another idea for a theme. How about a tasting of Eger Bull's Blood?

Also - now that I've got more posting / blogging experience under my belt (www.1WineDude.com), I'd love to host one of the WBW events.

Cheers!

I'm sure there will be a few of us who post some bottle shots. Just check our Flickr widget on the homepage after the event.

Cheers!
